PM-Forum
The PM-Forum Research Centre for Project Management is a research organization within the Faculty of ECSI of the Bucharest University of Economics . The president of the PM-Forum Research Centre is Prof. Constanța BODEA, PhD, member of the Computer Science Department.
The PM-Forum focuses on fundamental and applicative research in the field of project management, with a view to developing cross-disciplinary research projects, especially in the domains of management and computer science, which can be further extended in the future. It is autonomous with regard to scientific strategies providing its own management and marketing for its research and development programmes.
To reach its objectives, the Centre carries out activities such as: fundamental and applicative research, consultancy, ongoing education, training, documentation for project management as well as other domains.
The Centre's main activities revolve around scientific research, sponsored or not. The results of the research and development activities are disseminated at other academic institutions from Romania which have a similar profile.
Moreover, the Centre organizes various scientific events (seminars, workshops, conferences and symposia) with a view to disseminating the results of its research activities. The Centre also promotes international co-operation especially in what concerns European integration programmes. With this in view, the Centre supports researchers' participation in international conferences, affiliation to scientific organizations or provides funding for further studies.
The members of the PM-Forum Research Centre are represented by the following categories of personnel from the Bucharest University of Economics: academic staff, postgraduate researchers, visiting scholars, scholars holding a PhD in economics, students and auxiliary personnel.
The academic staff from other Romanian universities will be involved by means of an internet-based collaboration framework and, eventually, by a national research network in the domain of project management.
The Centre's research staff holds intellectual property rights over the results obtained, except when research contracts specify otherwise.

The ASE - Oracle centre for research excellence
The Computer Science Department has been a member of the Oracle Academic Innitiative since 1998, which is the year when the ASE - Oracle centre for research excellence was founded. The collaboration between the Computer Science Department within the Bucharest University of Economics and the Oracle - Romania (the Oracle Academic Innitiative) has extended so that nowadays the centre facilitates the acces of all interested parties (both students and academic staff) to:
A lab with 38 Pentium IV computers completely equipped for applications: in room 2017 the interested parties have access to databases, printers and a projector
Internet access through a local network
Windows 2000 server and workstations
A library with the most recent software applications and Oracle manuals.
Students can borrow installation kits and manuals and also have access to the lab for individual study sessions. Furthermore, academic staff, doctoral students and researchers are all invited to study Oracle products.
Ever since 1999, each student who takes Oracle courses facilitated by our Department and completes them with fairly good results receives a certificate recognized by the Oracle company.

The oracle lab also hosts a series of postgraduate courses, such as: SQL, PL/SQL, Developer, Designer. Moreover, every year at least 30 students write their Bachelor's or Master's theses employing the resources offered by the Centre and the Oracle technologies (SQL, PL/SQL, Developer, Designer, Express, Devel, Discoverer, WebDB, JDeveloper). In addition, the Oracle company organizes courses within the Centre.
The president of the ASE - Oracle centre for research excellence is Prof. Manole VELICANU, PhD, who can be contacted at the following e-mail address: manole.velicanu@ie.ase.ro .
