Communication and Public Relation in Business - On-line Master's program

Program director : Professor Alexandru TAȘNADI, PhD

Organised by: The Department of Communication and Economic Doctrines

Mission :

We believe we have great responsibility towards those who approach the academic environment using their PC: engineers, doctors, economists, jurists, public servants, towards all those interested in business and who want to discover their communication skills. We have to endeavor to break "the silence spiral" and to rediscover together the magic of communication.

Our potential students' options, interests or preferences must be dealt with promptly, in a professional manner. The beneficiaries of our courses must have the chance to overcome the shyness that dominates interpersonal communication in the business environment, wrongly perceived by Romanians as a "jungle".

We have a responsibility towards the members of our team who have engaged enthusiastically in working with the future students, admirers of " homo oeconomicus". We have to prove good professionals, to support quality work and to make them proud to belong to the court of the "Old Lady", Bucharest University of Economics.

Our ultimate responsibility is towards our students who wish to develop their communication skills in the largest domain: the business world. We want to try out new ideas together with our students. Together we can discover the beauty of research in communication science.

Our team no longer wants public relations and communication to be regarded as the "scapegoats" of an underperforming management.

By operating with these principles our students will get good results and the business environment will certainly become friendlier.

Objectives:

  • to provide our students with the opportunities and support to understand and acquire communication skills that they will use in promoting and developing businesses;
  • acquiring the skills to understand and pervade "the communicational noise" generated by the companies' involvement in the public space;
  • acquiring the quality of "double personality" communicator: that of an excellent mercenary and, at the same time, that of a passionate defender of a certain set of values generated/bred by clinging (adhering) to the deontological code of the newly acquired skills;
  • to create the necessary skills that will help the student use statistics, surveys, mass psychology, awareness of public opinion, settling conflicts;
  • to show the strengths and weaknesses of mass-media, which a communicator who represents the interests of an organization in the business environment must learn to discern and use;
  • to get to know the research and evaluation methods used to assess and measure the effectiveness of the promotion and implementation of a communication plan in a company;
  • to develop the students' capacity to acquire the communication means to deal with: the company's presence on the stock exchange, the company's contacts with the stockholders, the working environment within the company, the promotion of a certain company image to the outside world or to deal with the crises generated by ignoring the risk factors;
  • to accumulate experience in producing various used formats: written, audio-visual, electronic, exposure and interactive elements;
  • Ability to self-evaluate graduates' intellectual force by elaborating a research project (dissertation) where to combine the rigorousness required by the science of communication with the creative passion of every communicator fascinated by the vision/mirage of the information discovered on the way.

Core courses:

  • On-line communication
  • Communication and economic language
  • e-Marketing
  • Public relations in business
  • Advertising in promoting businesses
  • Business communication and negotiation
  • The deontology of business communication
  • Social psychology
